Weeding Procedures
Weeding the library collection is an important part of maintaining high quality resources for students and staff. Therefore, it should be an ongoing process that goes on throughout the year.
Please follow the following procedures once titles have been selected for discard:

Please follow the following procedures once titles have been selected for discard:
- Remove all barcodes or use a permanent marker to blackout the barcode.
- Remove or black out ALL school information. (Name, address, etc).
- Mark/Label the book as DISCARD using a stamp or Permanent Marker. This should be on the inside front and back covers.
- Offer discarded materials to both teachers and students at your school. Even though these items may no longer be appropriate for the library, teachers and students may be able to use them.
- Then print out a list of the remaining titles (THAT INCLUDES the title, author and ISBN # and Original Barcode #) and send both the list and the books to CBRC attention Jennifer LaGarde. They will then be offered to other schools.
- Remaining titles will be sent to purchasing for county discard.
